March OLW Blog Hop

Ok, my first Blog Hop. Let us hope I have something to say…

I’ve mentioned I’m doing the OLW (one little word) thing this year. My word being Flourish. I bought a locket with my word stamped inside. I’ve been doing the exercises that go along with the class (photos posted below). I’ve been trying to figure out what exactly it’s going to take for me to flourish this year. What is it I’m trying to accomplish. Honestly? I have no idea.

So far I have been crafting more than in the past. Part of this was inspired by completing half of my craft closet reno. I needed access to my crafting supplies for the assignments so I had to start the closet. I now have access to all of my supplies and it’s put me in the frame of mind to create. Working on the closet also made me realize it doesn’t take much to bang out a small space. Also, I really need to embrace the way I work and create. I never see the finished product and work to get there. I just can’t see it. I need to work on a little here and a bit there and then it starts to come together.

Another way I’ve embraced my creative side is the photo a day project. I started it in February and have committed to taking a photo a day with my phone. No need to whip out the big camera. Easy to upload online. Ready-made prompt every day. And I’ve promised myself that it doesn’t have to be groundbreaking. Just a slice of life at that moment. And the thing is? I’m enjoying it.

Photo a day has led me to posting on my blog again. At first I was posting on Twitter and Facebook but then decided, Hey! I have a blog. I have it for a reason. No one wants to see every photo. Therefore, no one has to look (best way to kill your readership is not post for months and months on end. Rinse, repeat). Why is it that bloggers have to remind themselves this is for them. It is whatever they want it to be. There are no rules. So boring photos it is! And once I started logging back into the blog and looking at it, it reminded me that I may want to actually write something again. Huh. Who knew?

So that is where I am at with flourish… I have no idea where I am going or where I will end up but looking back at the last two months I can definitely say my creative side has begun to flourish again.

Heidi you definitely appear to be walking the walk with your word Flourish. I think it is wonderful that you have revamped your craft area so you can flourish there, with the photos and your blog. Love your montage (and your other pages). Thanks for sharing!
