More on Life on Mars
I have a new theory concerning Life on Mars. I think they never planned for it to go past one season. I think the powers that be were afraid that people wouldn’t get invested in a show that only lasted one season. I’m thinking the fact that the British version was only 16 episodes long and the US version will be 17 says something.
The thing is, the more I think about it the more I think I would love to know a show was only going to last one season. You know there is an end point, a conclusion. There’s a definite story arc. You don’t need to invest years of your life. It’s much harder to get disgusted and lose interest in one year than with a show that’s on season 8 or 4 or even 3. No sophomore slump. Just good television. Think about it, no hiatus. How beautiful a thing would that be?
What say you? Would you invest your time in a show that was only slated to run one season?

I haven’t seen the show, actually… But I can probably say the same thing for Dollhouse — They weren’t thinking ahead. I’m already bored, too.
They are starting to go to a full-year-long season shift. Shows will still be 20ish episodes per season, but there will also be showing starting at different times of the year. Better for cable companies to maintain business.
Thanks for coming by and playing the MEET n’ GREET! Always great to have you there!

Dont think I’ve heard of Live on Mars.
Though netchick sent me! lol
hi heidi – came over from Tanya’s to say hello this evening.
I’m not a fan of Life on Mars – but I was totally invested in the first season of Big Bang Theory, and was thrilled to learn a new series had been made!
Quite a lot of TV these days is canned after one season – if the TV bosses don’t like it – they don’t seem to listen to the viewers. I rememer one promising programme was ditched after only three episodes.
